Warsaw expands electric bus fleet

Warsaw is among the leading EU cities in the electrification of its public transport. Since 2012, the municipal bus operator Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe (MZA) has been testing zero-emission vehicles and, by 2020, had introduced its 100th electric bus into service. To mark this milestone, the bus was given a distinctive, easily recognisable design.

The latest contract includes 50 battery-powered articulated buses from Solaris, which will be charged at the depot. These buses meet modern equipment standards, featuring:

  • Low-floor access for improved accessibility
  • Blind-spot monitoring for enhanced safety
  • USB chargers for passenger convenience

Prior to this order, MZA had already expanded its electric bus fleet by purchasing 30 additional electric buses. Once all newly ordered buses are deployed on Warsaw’s roads, electric buses will account for approximately one-quarter of MZA’s fleet.
