Social Biking Challenge – Request for local coordinators

The European Commission is launching its Social Biking Challenge across Europe this year from 16 September (which also marks the start of EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK), for three weeks. To get involved in the Challenge, just download the European Commission’s BikePrints mobile application (already available in Apple and Play stores). The BikePrints app allows you to follow your friends, track their bike routes and win points and prizes together.

The European Commission will present 7 mountain bikes to the best Social Bikers of Europe.

At the local level, they are seeking local coordinators to ensure publicity and to provide a list of 30 small prizes, in advance. These may be symbolic (e.g. stickers) or relevant to cycling and sports, and will serve to reward participants in your own local Social Biking Challenge, which we will register online.

There will be an award at a special ceremony in Brussels for the local coordinator who organises the most successful local Social Biking Challenge, meaning the town/city that manages to collect the most points via the BikePrints app.

Potential local Social Biking coordinators (municipalities, NGOs, cycling clubs, etc.) who would like to organise the Social Biking Challenge in their town/city (either within EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK or independently) are requested to express their interest by 30 July 2018, by contacting: eu-socialbikingatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (eu-socialbiking[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu).

For further information (at the moment only in English) on registration and participation, please consult the official website: https://socialbiking.jrc.ec.europa.eu
