The deadline to apply for the EU Urban Road Safety Award has been extended to 20 November 2020, 24:00 (CET).
The EU Urban Road Safety Award recognises the progress local authorities have made towards improving the safety of European roads. Towns and cities play a vital role in road safety as 38% of road fatalities and more than 50% of serious road injuries occur on urban roads.
The EU Urban Road Safety Award does not reward plans – unlike the SUMP Award – but rewards explicit measures that have been taken to improve road safety, such as speed reductions or the implementation of road awareness courses.
The competition is open to local authorities from the European Union, EU Candidate Countries, Potential EU Candidate Countries that are part of the Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP) European Economic Area (EEA), European Free Trade Area countries (EFTA) or the Eastern Partnership (EaP).
