Electric Car Sharing Service launched in Romania

An electric car-sharing service with a presence in Lithuania and Bulgaria has recently launched recently in Bucharest, Romania.

The launch is the latest in the diffusion of electric car-sharing services across Europe. Other schemes operate in Wroclaw, Poland and electric car-sharing appears to be on the rise across the UK with 22,000 unique members using an electric car-sharing service between July 2018 and July 2019. Another Romanian scheme offers the opportunity for anyone who has a bank card to rent an EV.

Some of the electric car-sharing services place restrictions on the rental duration or use. For example, the new service in Bucharest offers electric car rentals with payment by the minute – with a minimum rental time of 12-minutes and a maximum rental time of 24 hours. The service area is restricted to Bucharest, so any users leaving the city’s limits must ensure they return the car back or face paying additional costs.
