DT4REGIONS Award: Deploying data and AI

The DT4REGIONS Project has opened calls for applications for its DT4REGIONS Award, which aims to recognise regional and local public administrations’ work on innovative solutions based on 'Big Data' and artificial intelligence (AI).

Data and AI are rapidly transforming urban mobility. From parking to logistics, micromobility to traffic management, they are being deployed to enhance pedestrian and driver safety, as well as to increase efficiency and lower costs.

The DT4REGIONS project, born from a 'Preparatory Action' on the initiative of the European Parliament and co-funded by the European Commission, aims to build a European platform to gather digital solutions based on Big Data and AI that have been developed to address societal problems of public interest. Regions, including Catalonia (Spain), Greater London (UK), Flanders (Belgium) and Emilia-Romagna (Italy), are collaborating to enhance and expand the potential of data and AI.

As part of its activities, the project has launched the DT4REGIONS Award to reward particularly innovative solutions based on Big Data and AI. The award aims to give visibility to the best solutions, initiatives and technological applications that are currently in use by public administrations in Europe. The call for applications is currently open and will remain so until November 30. All local, regional and national public administrations from across Europe are able to apply, and solutions developed by third parties for specific public administrations can also be submitted by the latter.

Solutions presented for the award do not have to belong to a specific policy area, which makes this an exciting opportunity to submit best practices from across the domain of innovative transport and sustainable mobility at the local and regional levels.
