Apply now to join the CIVITAS Political Advisory Committee

Elected politicians from member cities of the CIVITAS Forum Network are invited to apply to join the CIVITAS Political Advisory Committee (PAC). Five spaces are available for new members to join this small group of leading and highly motivated politicians whose cities are leading the way in advancing sustainable mobility in Europe.

The PAC acts as the steering group of the CIVITAS Initiative and network of cities. Its members are involved in a wide variety of activities, including delivering policy recommendations; reinforcing liaison between the European Commission and the CIVITAS network of cities and CIVINET national and regional networks; and participating in key CIVITAS activities, such as study tours, peer reviews and thematic working groups.

All expressions of interest should be sent to pacatcivitas [dot] eu (pac[at]civitas[dot]eu). In this letter of intent, candidates should indicate their name, city, job title, and experience. In addition, they should outline their reasons for applying and vision for their year as a PAC member in 500 words or less.

The new PAC members will be appointed by the European Commission with the support of the PAC Secretariat. They will be selected based on general criteria of representativeness (city typology and geographical position, CIVITAS experience, gender) and the individual candidates’ record in proactively promoting policies that are in line with the CIVITAS objectives. Candidates apply in their personal capacity (i.e. not as formally nominated representatives of their local administration). The PAC itself has no formal “power of representation”.

The application deadline is 9 September 2019. Applicants will receive an answer regarding their submissions by 16 September. Those selected would become members until the term of the current PAC ends in September 2020.

The next PAC meeting will take place during the CIVITAS Forum 2019 in Graz (Austria), 2-4 October 2019. Find out more about the PAC via the link below.
