Access City Award 2021 open for applications

The European Commission have started accepting applications for the Access City Award 2021. The Access City Awards celebrate cities that are determined to improve accessibility to persons with disabilities and elderly people. It recognises cities efforts to guarantee equal access to fundamental rights and improve the quality of life for all inhabitants.

With the EU expected to have 120 million people with disabilities by the end of 2020, and the population becoming older now is the perfect time to act. Follow this link to view a short video from the Commissioner of Equality, Helena Dalli.

If you are:

  • An EU city with over 50,000 inhabitants;
  • An urban area comprised of two or more towns with a combined population of over 50,000 and you are within an EU country with fewer than 2 cities with over 50,000 inhabitants,

Then you can apply today and there will be a financial prize for the first, second and third place winners.

The deadline for applications is 9 September 2020
