Munich boosts shared mobility efforts to achieve a car-lite, sustainable future

City develops advanced monitoring system to enhance shared mobility services and support sustainability goals by 2035.

Munich is launching a new initiative to enhance shared mobility services as part of its Mobility Strategy 2035. The city's efforts focus on creating a comprehensive system for monitoring and managing shared mobility options like bikes and e-scooters to reduce car dependency and promote sustainable urban transport. The initiative aims to improve data collection and analysis, allowing for better oversight and decision-making regarding the efficiency and integration of these services.

The strategy emphasises several key objectives, including:
•    ensuring equitable access to shared mobility;
•    prioritising these services over private vehicles;
•    integrating them digitally for convenience and accessibility.

With a focus on these areas, Munich aims to optimise public funds, enhance service quality, and contribute to the city's climate neutrality goals by 2035.

By developing a scientifically grounded monitoring system, Munich will track the progress and effectiveness of its shared mobility initiatives. This approach ensures continuous improvement and alignment with the city’s vision of a sustainable, car-lite future, fostering a more environmentally friendly urban landscape.
