Malta embarking on EUR 20 million electric bus venture

Malta Public Transport is embarking on a EUR 20 million initiative to electrify the nation's public transportation network. Central to this endeavour is the inauguration of a state-of-the-art electric bus charging facility and the introduction of 30 fully electric, emissions-free buses. This transition to electric buses promises a substantial positive impact, marked by a significant reduction in emissions, notably a 70% cut in greenhouse gases, and a marked decrease in noise pollution. Furthermore, these modern electric buses are outfitted with various passenger enhancements, including accessibility features, air conditioning, USB chargers, and complimentary Wi-Fi, ultimately elevating the overall passenger experience.

These electric buses feature cutting-edge battery technology, providing an impressive range of up to 300 kilometres on a single charge. The majority of these buses can be conveniently charged overnight, ensuring seamless service from dawn to dusk.
