UPPER launches two new integrated digital tools to foster sustainable mobility knowledge exchange

The UPPER project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, has introduced a new digital platform designed to enhance public transport knowledge sharing, practical application and collaboration among cities and transport stakeholders. This platform, which includes two key components, U-KNOW and U-TRANSFER, aims to support cities, transport authorities, and mobility stakeholders in improving public transport systems through better access to information and practical tools.

• U-KNOW functions as a centralised knowledge hub, offering a curated collection of resources, methodologies, and case studies aligned with the goals of the EU Cities Mission and the UPPER project’s sustainable mobility objectives. It is intended to serve as a learning centre where cities can access guidance on implementing effective public transport measures, drawing from both academic research and real-world experiences.
• U-TRANSFER complements this by focusing on the practical side of knowledge exchange. It facilitates the adaptation and replication of successful mobility strategies across different urban contexts. Through this tool, cities can identify relevant examples, assess their applicability, and receive support in tailoring these solutions to local needs. This process is designed to accelerate the uptake of innovative practices and reduce the time and resources required to implement new transport initiatives.

Together, these tools (available at publictransportknowledge.eu) form part of a wider offering, the UPPER Toolkit, which includes a suite of digital solutions aimed at improving the planning, monitoring, and governance of public transport. 

By combining strategic insights with operational guidance, the platform empowers cities to make informed decisions and implement measures that contribute to more inclusive, efficient, and environmentally sustainable urban mobility systems.
