A new report analysing the way in which travellers use the mobility app, FREE NOW, has been released by those behind the app. The report provides insights on the emerging urban mobility trends in the UK and Europe based on the behaviour of 48 million FREE NOW users across Europe. It highlights the increasing demand for micro-mobility options.
The report reveals a significant growth in the use of shared services, including e-scooters, e-bikes, e-mopeds and car-sharing, with a 221% increase recorded. The number of multi-mobility users has also grown by 27%. Moreover, the overall number of taxi and minicab trips has increased by over 50% in the UK alone, with London ranking among the top cities by the number of trips taken.
The report also highlights the rise of micro-mobility options, with 73% of these rides travelled by e-scooter and 27% by e-bike across Europe. In the UK, the number of micro-mobility rides increased by 200% in 2022 alone.
According to Mariusz Zabrocki, UK General Manager at FREE NOW, 60% of Europeans want a mobility app that integrates all mobility options instead of having individual apps for each transport mode. Thus, the company encourages users to combine the various transport modes available on the app and move from an ownership concept to a shared service that can be booked on-demand.
