Public Consultation - Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) Guidelines

The open public consultation for the evaluation of the TEN-T guidelines has been launched and will be open until 17 July 2019.

TEN-T policy remains key in promoting the free circulation of goods, services and citizens throughout the EU. It is instrumental in boosting economic, social and territorial cohesion between all Member States and their regions, as well as beyond the EU.

Regulation (EU) No 1315/2013 on Union guidelines for the development of the TEN-T foresees that, by 31 December 2023, the Commission shall carry out a review of the implementation of the core network, evaluating:

• compliance with the TEN-T provisions,
• progress in the implementation,
• changes in passenger and freight transport flows,
• developments in national transport infrastructure investments, and
• the need for amendments. 

The Commission is in the process of launching a comprehensive review process, addressing issues such as standards and infrastructure requirements, implementation tools or various aspects of the comprehensive network, as well as soft measures. As TEN-T policy brings direct benefits to European citizens and businesses by enhancing accessibility and enabling connectivity a broad consultation of the public opinion on the outcomes, shortcomings and possible perspectives of the current TEN-T policy is needed and will benefit the whole evaluation process.
