New CIVITAS e-course examines integration of urban nodes into TEN-T networks

A new CIVITAS e-course starting on 18 May looks at how to better integrate urban nodes into TEN-T networks.

The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) aims to create a Europe-wide network of railway lines, roads, inland waterways, maritime shipping routes, ports, airports and railroad terminals.

Given TEN-T's aim to close gaps and remove bottlenecks across this continent-wide transport network, the integration of urban nodes (urban areas) is vital.

This four-week CIVITAS e-course will look at how to go about doing so. Much of its knowledge will be drawn from the NUVit/Vital Nodes methodology. Concluding at the end of 2019, Vital Nodes worked to enable efficient, sustainable freight delivery across TEN-T urban nodes, and developed its own methodology to achieve this.

As they move through the course, learners will be supported by thematic experts and use a rich variety of learning materials to deepen their understanding of the topic.

A launch webinar on Monday 18 May, 13:00 - 14:00 CEST, will introduce the course and the methodology. Speakers include city representatives who participated in Vital Nodes workshops.
