MIVB deploys first all-electric buses in Brussels

The local transport company, MIVB in Brussels (BE), has started operating all-electric buses for the first time. Commencing with three buses on 27 January 2025, MIVB aims to complement its bus fleet with 70 all-electric buses in Brussels across 2025.

The electric intergration begins with line 53, connecting the Military Hospital and Westland Shopping via Basilica, Bockstael, and De Wand. Additional lines, namely 46, 87, and 89, will follow. These lines will not yet operate exclusively with electric buses. Instead, the initial approach is to integrate electric buses across different routes, with the aim of transitioning to a fully electric fleet by 2035.
