IMPACTS project promotes safe and inclusive public transport in Dugopolje and Istanbul

The European Passengers’ Federation has announced the completion of the IMPACTS project, short for “Inclusive Mobility: Public and Collaborative Trusted Spaces”. The project aimed to promote human-centric public transport systems where passengers feel safe, supported by fellow travellers, and empowered to help improve local services through their feedback.

The one-year-long project, co-funded by the European Union and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), involved partnerships with both Istanbul (Turkey) and Dugopolje (Croatia). As part of the project, these cities piloted the WizGo application which provided a platform that increased connectivity among public transport users and enabled passengers to report issues in real time via feedback channels.

The press release by the European Passengers’ Federation, published on 29 January 2024, highlights the benefits realised in both cities. Passengers in Dugopolje reported feeling more satisfied with urban transport connectivity while those in Istanbul reported feeling more secure and safe as a result of the WizGo application.

Moving forward, the IMPACTS project aims to expand the application’s use to promote more accessible public transport across Europe.
