How to get involved with the 'European Day without a Road Death' project

In 2018, for the third year in a row, project EDWARD (the European Day without a Road Death) will take place; this year's event will be held on 19th September 2018 during the European Mobility Week. The objective of the campaign, launched by the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) and supported by the European Commission, is that no one should die on European roads on EDWARD Day.

In the period leading up to EDWARD, the project wants all road users to think about the risks they face, the risks they may pose to others and how they can go about reducing those risks.

Organise Road Safety Days

Whether you represent an association, a business, a national, regional or local authority, a school, college or university, or whether you simply care as an individual, you can join the project, organise a Road Safety Day and register these on Any activity promoting road safety culture can be part of a Road Safety Day, including information and awareness-raising activities in schools and in companies, workshops, conferences and competitions. Road Safety Days can be organised this year either on 19th September, the European Day Without a Road Death, or on any other day of European Mobility Week, which runs from 16th to 22nd September. The first two editions of Project EDWARD were a great success with more than 120 road safety days organised across Europe and it reached more than 25 million people on Twitter.

Take part in a photo competition and sign a pledge

You can also take part in a photo competition and send the three best photos of your Road Safety Day by 19 October to MOVE-ROAD-SAFETY-DAYSatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (MOVE-ROAD-SAFETY-DAYS[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu). The best pictures of the contest will be promoted by the European Commission and the winner will be invited to the next Excellence in Road Safety Awards.
