Hart bei Graz in Austria is now “daily.intelligent.mobile.”

Residents in the Austrian municipality of Hart bei Graz can now use a multimodal “tim” node, implemented by the Regional Management Metropolitan Area of Styria Ltd. within the framework of the EU-Interreg Central Europe Project Peripheral Access.

This node will help reduce the use of private cars by connecting public transport, park & ride carparks, e-car sharing, on-demand taxis, and bicycle stands. Until November the “tim” system – short for “täglich.intelligent.mobil” (German for “daily.intelligent.mobile.”) – was only available in the urban area of Graz. Now Regiotim aims to improve local mobility in the peripheral areas near Graz as well. The new mobility hotspot is the only location with a bicycle service station in addition to covered bicycle parking spaces and lockers. In order to get from A to B, users can handle the changeover, for example from one's own bicycle to one of the e-carsharing cars, quickly and easily at this node. To book an e-carsharing vehicle, residents just have to register once at the municipal office.

The advantage for registered users is that they can not only use the nearest hub but also have unlimited access to all tim locations in the central Styrian region with over 80 cars. With the tim card, the shared vehicles can be unlocked and used from four euros per hour. In the future, Regional Management is planning to install more of these multimodal nodes in other local authorities near Graz, allowing local people to travel more sustainably.
