Graz develops its SUMP ‘Mobilitätsplan 2040’

The city of Graz, in Austria (AT), is currently developing its sustainable urban mobility plan (SUMP), the ‘Mobilitätsplan 2040’. This plan builds on the mobility strategy 2020, which was structured into three chapters: the transport policy guideline, the plan’s objectives, and the measures programme. 

Overall, Graz has invested EUR 300 000 in creating the new SUMP. The planning process, which began in 2022, has already completed work on the state of play, urban mobility trends, and objectives and visions for the future of urban mobility in Graz. These efforts have involved continuous participation from stakeholders, city district policymakers, and the public. The proposed measures and programme will now be presented to the city council. The department for transport planning is leading the development of the SUMP, with support from the municipal department for citizen participation, StadtLabor—a specialist in co-creative urban development projects—the Technical University of Vienna, and the transport planning consultancy con.sens.
