Gdańsk builds new city-centre cycling corridor to boost safety and connectivity

Earlier in October, construction began in Gdańsk on a new six-week cycling project: a dedicated path along 3 Maja Street that will link the recently opened eco-highway on Armii Krajowej and Rogaczewskiego with Hucisko.

Starting at the Municipal Office crossing, the route runs along the outer edge of the existing pavement, briefly sharing space with pedestrians near a bank entrance before passing the Rogaczewskiego parking area and connecting to the existing cycle crossing. The new section will create a continuous, city-centre corridor for cyclists.

To make space for the path, three parking spots and a right-turn into the Municipal Office car park will be removed, and traffic will temporarily narrow to a single lane.

The project marks another step in improving the safety and comfort of cyclists in Gdańsk. It forms part of the city’s growing, more connected cycling network, designed to help cyclists and pedestrians move more smoothly and safely through the city centre.
