Free online training course on Urban Vehicle Access Regulations for Sustainable Cities

Urban traffic and pollution are significant obstacles to creating healthy cities. To address these challenges, many cities are implementing Urban Vehicle Access Regulations (UVARs). These regulations manage and restrict vehicle access in specific urban areas to combat negative effects such as air pollution, noise, and congestion. UVARs, such as pedestrian zones, also play a crucial role in improving safety for active mobility users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.

EIT Urban Mobility Academy is offering a free online training course on the topic of UVARs, covering the following topics:

  • Understanding UVARs and their role in enhancing urban mobility;
  • Differentiating between various UVAR measures, their characteristics, and applications;
  • Evaluating and incorporating complementary measures to increase UVAR effectiveness;
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring effective UVAR schemes tailored to specific needs.

This course is open to anyone interested in vehicle regulation in urban areas. Whether you are an experienced transport or urban planning professional or new to the field, this course is designed to accommodate participants with varying levels of expertise, making it inclusive for all.

The course will equip participants with the tools needed to implement UVARs, such as low-emission zones and congestion charges, by exploring real-world examples and best practices for successful UVAR implementation. For more details on how to enrol and the required time commitment, visit the the EIT Urban Mobility Academy website.

EIT Urban Mobility Academy is a project co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) under the EU.
