On 27 May 2025, the EU Tourism team hosted a hybrid stakeholder event on tourism, held in Brussels and online. The agenda featured several presentations offering updates on the latest EU-level developments impacting the tourism sector.

The event explored the close connection between transport and tourism, such as the potential of cycling tourism to support more sustainable travel. The updated EU Strategy for Sustainable Tourism was also presented, which highlights the importance of advancing greener transport, integrated ticketing, and multimodal travel solutions to enhance a positive tourism experience.

A highlight of the event was the contribution from the 2025 European Capital of Smart Tourism, Torino (Italy). City representatives shared how Torino has evolved from an industrial centre into a tourism destination, driven by investments in accessible, affordable public transport and the digitalisation of mobility services.

The full recording of the event will soon be available on the EU Tourism Platform: EU Tourism Platform | EU Tourism Platform
