The final report of the Ambassadors for Diversity in Transport network has been released, marking the conclusion of its second year. Commissioned by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), the report provides an overview of the network's activities, outcomes and future roadmap aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion in the transport sector across the EU, both for the workforce and users.
The network, which supports the European Commission’s agenda aligned with the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, has grown to include 92 Ambassadors from 20 EU countries, representing 38 nationalities. Through dedicated working groups, the Ambassadors have launched initiatives to promote equal access to careers, improve workplace diversity, foster inclusive research and data collection and address challenges faced by persons with disabilities, LGBTIQ transport users, women and individuals from migrant or ethnic minority backgrounds.
Key milestones include the creation of a Network Roadmap to guide future actions and a successful conference in Brussels, which strengthened collaboration and strategic planning. The network has also shared knowledge through webinars and blog posts, covering inclusive policy design, gender lens tools, and accessibility challenges.
The network aims to continue attracting new Ambassadors to broaden representation, assessing engagement to encourage active participation and developing a governance structure to support long-term sustainability.
