CITIES FORUM 2023 – Call for hosting cities is OPEN

DG REGIO has announced that the CITIES FORUM will be organised in physical and hybrid format in 2023 and are looking for the city where the FORUM will take place.

Cities interested in hosting and co-organising the CITIES FORUM with DG REGIO can indicate their interest by submitting an application by 31 January 2022.

The CITIES FORUM is a biennial major event of the European Commission that brings together key urban stakeholders from European, national, regional and local levels. It is where progress is made on the urban dimension of Cohesion Policy, the Urban Agenda for the EU, the role of cities in implementing the European Green Deal, the EU response to the urban dimension of the 2030 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda, the New Leipzig Charter as well as on EU level initiatives developed in order to support cities.

Around 700 stakeholders from cities, regions, umbrella organisations and NGO’s involved in the implementation and promotion of integrated and sustainable urban development will attend the 5th edition of the CITIES Forum as speakers and to lead workshops.

Additionally, European high-level political representatives from all levels of government and representing different geographical areas, gender and city sizes will participate in the various sessions.

The CITIES FORUM will take place in the first quarter of 2023 and will take place over 2 days.

In 2020, the CITIES FORUM brought together more than 650 urban stakeholders in the city of Porto. As a great number of cities competed then to host the FORUM, the Commission decided to continue organising an OPEN CALL for interested cities in Europe.

Cities interested in hosting and co-organising the CITIES FORUM together with DG REGIO can show their interest by submitting an application form by 31 January 2022.
