The town of Brunico in South Tyrol is preparing to unveil its new green hydrogen refuelling station, developed by Alperia in collaboration with IIT Hydrogen under the EU-funded LIFEalps project. Designed to support sustainable mobility across the region, the station is entering its final phase with the installation of compressors, storage systems, control panels and dispensers. Once operational, it will supply up to 800 kg of hydrogen per day via 350 and 700 bar dispensing points, serving vehicles from public transport to heavy logistics and private cars.

This initiative is funded through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and part of a wider effort to decarbonise transport in line with European climate neutrality goals and the Brenner Green Corridor.

With Brunico joining Bolzano South, where South Tyrol’s first hydrogen station has been in operation since 2014, the region is strengthening its hydrogen infrastructure network. This will support broader adoption of fuel cell vehicles and position South Tyrol as a leading hub for low-emission mobility. The Brunico station will not only expand local hydrogen production and distribution but also contribute to the development of the Brenner Green Corridor, a key axis for sustainable transport across the Alpine region.
