Brasov's new bus terminal features green roofs and fast-charging stations for e-buses

The Municipality of Brasov, Romania, has unveiled its newest and largest bus terminal, designed to be a model for future public transport hubs. This new facility highlights modern design and construction ideas.

The bus terminal includes 12 docking platforms and serves as a central hub, connecting to the Brasov train station and 14 metropolitan areas, including the airport. Four of these platforms are equipped with fast-charging stations for electric buses. The terminal can accommodate 12 buses, with nine platforms for buses up to 13 metres long and three for buses up to 18 metres long.

In an effort to reduce overall asphalt area, the roof of the bus station lounge is a green terrace and moveable. The back of the building is partially buried, integrating the green space on the building with the surrounding area. There is also green space with a lawn, 70 trees, and 20 decorative shrubs for passenger comfort. The platform canopy features a flat roof with photovoltaic panels.

The bus terminal also includes seven parking spaces for people with disabilities, reflecting contemporary social inclusivity standards.

This project is part of Brasov's strategy to make public transport the main urban mobility alternative, reducing reliance on private cars.
