Astypalaia's AstyBus programme sees major growth in smart mobility initiative

The innovative ‘astyMOVE’ ecosystem, a smart and ecological mobility initiative, has gained significant traction among residents and visitors of Astypalaia, entering its third year of successful implementation.

A key component of this ecosystem is the AstyBus program, launched in 2022, which operates electric mini-vans on demand. The project is a collaboration between K2 S.A., the Volkswagen Group, Kosmocar, and the Greek Government.

In the first half of 2024, the AstyBus program has seen impressive growth, with an 83 % increase in routes and a significant rise in kilometers traveled compared to the same period in 2023. The program has also improved its application, making user registration faster and more accessible, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience. New vehicles will be added, and more public service stations will be established.

This initiative aims to improve transportation and the quality of life for Astypalaia's residents. The success of AstyBus reflects the collective efforts of all stakeholders, and 2024 is set to be a milestone year – as the program solidifies its role as a sustainable and efficient mobility solution on the island.
