For the third consecutive year, EIT Climate-KIC and FedEx Express Europe have launched the Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge 2025, inviting European cities to submit projects that promote creating greener, healthier, and people-centred urban mobility. Cities and towns with a population of at least 25,000 in EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries (excluding Canada and New Zealand) are eligible to apply.

This year, particular focus is placed on projects that create street space for healthy and active mobility, while also incorporating greening elements such as planters, trees, and pocket gardens. Projects must meet the following eligibility conditions:

  1. Contribute, in the broadest sense, to protecting nature and the environment, promoting sustainability, addressing climate change, and advancing knowledge in these areas for the common good.
  2. Serve the public interest.

Winning projects will be selected based on their potential for impact, learning value, and replicability in other cities. Each selected city could receive up to EUR 90,000 in funding, with a maximum of four projects supported.

The deadline to submit an application is 12 March 2025.
