A virtual webinar on sustainable urban mobility planning, organised by the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission and the SUMPs for BSR project, will take place on Tuesday 24 September 2024, from 09:30 to 11:00 (CET).
The event will explore how Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) can serve as a strategic tool for cities aiming to achieve climate neutrality and improve the well-being of their citizens. Experts and practitioners, including urban planners, policymakers, city officials, and academics from across the Baltic Sea Region, will come together to share insights and case studies on the benefits of active mobility and the importance of monitoring and evaluation in ensuring the success of SUMPs.
The agenda includes a presentation from the University of Gdansk, which will discuss how SUMPs can drive cities towards climate neutrality, emphasising the importance of ongoing monitoring. The City of Turku will share its experience in developing its first city-wide SUMP, while the City of Panevėžys will showcase initiatives aimed at promoting cycling in schools. Additional case studies and examples from other cities and pilot projects across the Baltic Sea Region will also be explored throughout the session.
